Founded in 2018 in honour of the life and vision of Apostle Chrispinus Mwenesi Matekwa, the Apostle Mwenesi Foundation exists to advance community development through education, healthcare, skills development, ministry and practical empowerment.

Faith expressed through meaningful community development.

The Apostle Mwenesi Foundation was founded in 2018 by Apostle Chrispinus Mwenesi Matekwa for the Pentecostal Christian Fellowship of Kenya. The Foundation was established to facilitate ministry by contributing meaningfully to community development.

Today, AMF seeks to carry forward this vision by actively engaging communities through alternative education, healthcare solutions, youth development, skills training and Christian programmes.

The Man Behind The Legacy

A life devoted to faith, people and community.

Apostle Chrispinus Mwenesi Matekwa was the founding Bishop of the Pentecostal Christian Fellowship Churches of Kenya. After branching off from Crisco, he began a journey that would grow into a nationwide ministry.

He was well travelled and a biblical scholar with ties to the East Africa School of Theology, where he studied Theology. He travelled annually to the United States for conferences and missions where he taught the Word.

Apostle Mwenesi was passionate about his community. He continuously organised medical camps in his home village, including eye clinics, anti-jiggers campaigns, general health and nutrition initiatives.

He also supported school libraries through books and learning materials and assisted students seeking higher education through scholarships and accommodation.

Beyond ministry and philanthropy, he served as a community leader through Muhali Union, where he was Chairman. He initiated community empowerment projects and continuously engaged the community through public forums.

He was also a founding member of the Faraja Cancer Support Centre at MP Shah Hospital, where he led a team of medics, counsellors and patients in group therapy sessions.

Personal Background

Roots in Shikokho

Apostle Mwenesi was born in Shikokho Village, Ikolomani Constituency, Kakamega County, where he completed his primary education. He later established the Pentecostal Christian Fellowship ministry in 1991 and grew it across different regions of Kenya.

He was married to the late Joyce Mwenesi and was blessed with two children, Nelly and Haggai.

He went to be with the Lord in 2018 after a long battle with prostate cancer.

A National Movement

Founded in 1991 by Apostle Chrispinus Mwenesi and his wife Joyce Mwenesi, the Pentecostal Christian Fellowship Churches of Kenya began with one branch in Pangani, North View Road, at a social hall that was once the KANU Headquarters in Mlango Kubwa. The ministry grew through Highridge, Kangemi, Kawangware, Ongata Rongai and eventually into other regions of Kenya.

Why Shikokho?
